Descaling is important, especially in areas with hard water. Here's how you can descale your unit:

1. Drain the machine by dispensing all water.
2. Remove both the pitcher and the tap water tank.
3. Fill the tap water tank with lukewarm water and add two tablespoons of food-grade citric acid, then dissolve it completely.
4. Reattach the tank and allow it to cycle through the machine. This might take some time.
5. Once a full cycle is completed, discard the contents of the pitcher.
6. Continue to run the descaling solution until fully drained.
7. Flush the system by running three full tanks of clean water. Discard all outputted water.
8. Wash and refill the pitcher and tank to resume normal use.

If a slight sour taste is detected after descaling, run an additional tank of clean water before using the system.
